Physiotherapy and rehabilitation

As a result of trauma, illness or wrong movements, some muscular-skeletal problems with more or less important pains can very often arise. As physiotherapists, we take care of thoroughly evaluating and resolving the underlying nature of the problem in order to restore the patient’s lost functionality, always making use of the best techniques with proven scientific evidence.

The incorrect posture prolonged over time is one of the leading causes of pain affecting the spinal column (cervical, dorsal, lumbar) in both young and adult patients. We offer manual treatments and highly specific self-correction exercises to consciously address each person’s postural disorders.

Scoliosis is a deformation of the spine that is quite common in children and adolescents. Our highly skilled team is able to make a careful assessment of the degree of scoliosis, take charge and monitor the development and growth of our young patients over time and propose exercises capable of improving this pathology.

The neurological rehabilitation, based on motor and sensory stimuli, aims to recover the lost functions following pathologies or events affecting the central nervous system (stroke, Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, etc.). We pay great attention to the disabilities and context of each patient who often suffers the loss of their autonomy. For this reason, we offer a continuous and highly customized management.

Osteopathy oscolano Maderno - Garda Lake
Osteopathy Toscolano Maderno - Garda Lake

Osteopathy is a therapy that uses the hand contact for the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of the person. The therapy aims to restore the functional balance of the human body. It acts through a global approach to the person, restores the efficiency of the neuro-musculoskeletal system and corrects postural imbalances that can cause painful symptoms. However, osteopathic treatment is mainly a valid preventive tool, as its objective is to maintain health.

How is the visit?

The first osteopathic visit is divided into three phases:

  1. The osteopath collects the patient’s anamnestic data and evaluates any reports of instrumental investigations.
  2. After this phase, the osteopath carries out a differential clinical analysis aimed at eliminating the causes of imbalance that are not of osteopathic relevance. In this case, we will suggest an appropriate specialist.
  3. If, on the other hand, the problem is of osteopathic expertise, the therapists continue their approach through direct contact with the tissues, which will guide them in the treatment. The osteopaths thus search for a loss of tissue mobility that can allow them to identify the origin of the patient’s problem.

Problems on which it acts

Osteopathic is addressed to all age groups, above all for its preventive effectiveness and can prove to be a precious tool for facing and harmonizing specific changes that occur in different phases of life.

  • Osteoarticular problems:neck pain, cervicobrachialgie, lumbago or sciatica, pain in shoulders, elbows, ankles, tendinitis, craniofacial neuralgias, capsulitis or bursitis;
  • Headache and sinusitis;
  • Congestive-visceral problems: gastritis, colitis, cystitis, gynaecological disorders and hemorrhoidal congestion;
  • ENT problems: otitis, tinnitus, idiopathic vertigo, temporomandibular joint disorders, swallowing difficulty or dysphonia;
  • Functional disorders: insomnia, eye disorders;
  • Early childhood problems: restlessness of the new-born, colic, infant reflux, positional plagiocephaly;

Psychology and Psychotherapy

Psychology Toscolano Maderno - Garda Lake

Who is the psychologist?

The psychologist is a healthcare professional who takes care of promoting a change on both a psychological and behavioural level with the aim of helping the patient to be more self-aware and to be able to make decisions independently.

The psychologist supports patients by helping them to understand, reactivate, and strengthen their abilities, energies, and resources, thus allowing them to find solutions and alleviate the discomfort they feel. The possibility that patients have to share and explore their thoughts and emotions with a competent professional in order to understand everything in depth leads to the acquisition of new psychic and relational tools.

The main tool with which the psychologist operates is the session. It can also make use of measurement tools such as tests, questionnaires, and scales with scientific characteristics.

The clinical psychologists take care of the diagnosis and evaluation of psychological problems. They offer psychological support, consultancy, prevention, and rehabilitation aimed at supporting, encouraging, and developing individual potential and improving the quality of personal, family, work, social or couple life to help people cope with hardships and suffering.

The cognitive behavioural psychotherapy acts on emotions, thoughts, and behaviours in an active way: in each of us, in certain situations, particular thoughts arise, of which we are often unaware, which can give rise to problematic emotions and behaviours and be a source of discomfort.

In therapy we learn to recognize these thoughts and manage them in a functional way, so that we feel better!

What don’t psychologists do?

They don’t judge you.

They don’t talk to you like you are friends.

Friends or relatives are people who are part of the circle we hang out with, they have known us for a long time and love us, for this reason they support us and try to give us opinions and advice to make us feel better. The psychologist:

  • is a person external to the patient’s emotional context;
  • is not involved in your relational dynamics;
  • can place himself /herself in a more neutral position.
